Kay Montgomery
Picture
Kay Montgomery won free painting lessons at the Duluth Fine Arts League Gala Party several years ago from the wonderful and talented 2 Smith Gallery owners, Larry and Pam Smith.  She was thrilled because she had always wanted to try her hand at oil painting, and since she was now retired, it was time to get started.

She and her husband, Mike, had owned Parsons Gallery in Cumming for over 20 years, and their gallery and staff had won numerous national awards.  The gallery represented four very talented artists including Thomas Kinkade, Mark Keathley, Abraham Hunter and Robert Finale.  Throughout the years, Kay had intently watched them paint at artist signing events and at art conferences and was always emotionally moved.
Also in her background were two relatives with extreme art talent.  Her cousin, Kathy Fincher, is a nationally published artist who specializes in pastels and now, sculpture art.  Kay's aunt, Ann Odum, is the official  Painter of Historic Duluth and has painted wonderful works of art for over thirty years.

Kay has enjoyed painting in oil and her favorite choices are landscapes, florals, birds and quiet, nestled cottages in the country.  The painting she is most proud of is one of the first she ever created, The Tree of Life, (shown in the photo).  The tree, branches, and background represent her life, her family, and her interest in her family's ancestry.  She plans to paint for many years to come and deeply supports DFAL and all of its members.

For information on her art, please contact her at kaywmontgomery@gmail.com.
